The Frenzy of Queen Maeve

Good performances from the three actors in this play. This is probably the best of the three shows I saw Wednesday night. It’s an interesting story, well told. Partly funny, partly dark and with accents (English and Irish) that for me (not very sophisticated with regard to accents) were just fine and not distracting. Good to see, but not a must-see.

Here Lies Henry

An energetic one-man performance tending toward the surreal at times. A little too much surreality and that plus the character of Henry lies a lot (hence the title) meant I didn’t find any sympathy for Henry. Pretty interesting, though. Not a must-see, but good to see.

I Think My Heart Needs Glasses

This was a well-performed one-woman show, but I felt I didn’t get to know the character well enough to really be moved by her story. TJ Dawe did a somewhat similar story (but involving some drug use, not just meditation) in a previous Fringe but that was much more moving. Good to see, but not a must-see.
