A cute story in broad terms, but not very cleverly written, and certainly not well acted, except maybe for the “son” character. I didn’t care much for any of the characters — the main ones, anyway; I would be more interested in hearing the stories of the other characters!
RUPTURE
Am I imagining this, or do dance companies set their titles in ALL CAPS most of the time? I find that odd. Anyway, this show had two solos, one duet and one at the end with four dancers. I liked the last one most; the others didn’t really draw me in at all.
Dog Act
A very engaging show, very well performed and a novel plot set in a dystopian future. I didn’t get very attached to the characters, but I would still recommend this for everything else. Funny and moving.
God is a Scottish Drag Queen
75 minutes of fun stand-up comedy, delivered in a Scottish accent. Recommended. (“It’s tea!”)
Forget Me Not
A really good show by Rob Gee. Lots of interesting characters, all portrayed effectively and with feeling by Gee. We (the audience) got really attached to the characters and the story was novel and fun — touching, too. Definitely recommended.
Lovely Souls
I liked this one. The outcome was a little predictable, but I liked the sweetly-flawed characters and the story was sweet too. The characters needed more depth, but overall a good show.
Rope
People are recommending this, but I felt it was lacking something. The story, acting, direction, etc. were all good or better, but there weren’t any real surprises.
Offices
A pretty good adaptation of Ethan Coen’s Offices. It’s a funny story, and well done.
Melody Moore
Irishman Thomas Moore tells his side of the story, with song. He’s a talented actor, but there wasn’t much tension, and I found the backing tracks to some of the songs he sang overwhelmed the lyrics, which are the key thing of this story.
7 Stories
I really liked this one. Talented actors performing an interesting story. Seven “windows” across the stage, with various characters interacting between the windows and the focus was the man on the ledge. Very clever staging. Recommended!
